Your Cup of Tea

I have resolved, more or less, to write something every day. Most of these somethings are coming in at a page or less and aren't particularly good, but I've been posting them anyway hoping for critiques. Anyway, this story draws token inspiration from Belle & Sebastian and Sage Francis, two artists who couldn't be more different but both have songs about tea.

Colored Paper

Experimenting with colored paper, and white colored pencil. Here's two characters from my "Angel" story:

I failed at drawing Carys (the blonde in the lower right), but I like how the others turned out.

The Cat Came Back

I got the song stuck in my head earlier today, and I always found the song mildly disturbing anyway,so basically that's where the idea came from. I'm actually kind of happy with this piece, even if the voice could be stronger.
Oh, fair warning, it contains some violence and "strong language"

After the Thin Man

This is what happens when I go to Wikipedia and hit random until I get a workable prompt. A story with the title of a film from the mid 30's that closes with a quote from a Victorian poem ("Goblin Market" if you must know).

So I'm still looking over and posting old stuff, since my life right now consists of writing and rewriting and being way too busy. This is a combination of a drawing I did of my mother's spider plant and a diagram of the human heart, framed by some kind of random squares.

I've challenged myself, since joining this blog, to write as often as possible, call it the shotgun approach to literature, so here is yet another short-short. Hopefully it works on some level.

Peeling Red Paint

This story has been half finished all week, I had to complete it regardless of how bad it ended up being. I think the very end works, and the first page isn't bad, but other than that... Well, read at your own risk I suppose.

Especially when that's like all you do with your time for a week. But I got a couple things of my own design done. Well, partially done. It will eventually be a fancy lamp, but right now it's just a vase container thingy.

Animation Project - crappy GIF walkloop

A super quick walking study; trying to approach animating from a more structured angle for once.

I'm just starting out with my huge pixelated pomegranate I did this past fall...It's a photoshop-manipulated picture I took of a picture I drew in my sketchbook. The dip in the middle of my sketchbook established a strange horizon line, and some minimum/maximum filters created the noise in the background. I really like the colors that developed in this, and really like the image, but never found a use for it until now. Enjoy!
