I've been experimenting with different styles to continue my comic (found here), and after wrestling with both my tablet, and various digital artwork programs, this is my favorite:

What type of feeling do you get from it?

I'm trying for a kind of wistful, slightly sad, but kind of dreamy feel.

This started out as a scifi drawing, then became steampunk, and now is finally a modern tooth fairy. I have no idea how that happened.

I've been in a bad mmod and watching the syfy channel lately, so here's a a rat/preying mantis thing. :-)

I don't really like the head. I think I might change it to something more insect-like. Here's part of the under-drawing I did.

OC meme (or I am really spending too much time thinking about this)

I ran into this meme. And so I did the first part and drew ten of my own characters from three different stories I've been thinking about.

It's really sketchy -- not a finished piece.

It got a little cut off, and the writing's not super legible  and all the characters are out of order, so here's the key. Green is "Fade to Color", blue is "Wish Upon the Stars" and purple has yet to be titled but is about a seer.

I've decided to play around with printer paper, because it makes the pencil much smoother.

This is Kay.

Her name comes from the "Princess Kay of the Milky Way" competition in the MN state fair, because I was super homesick at the time. Yeah...

Colored Paper

Experimenting with colored paper, and white colored pencil. Here's two characters from my "Angel" story:

I failed at drawing Carys (the blonde in the lower right), but I like how the others turned out.

Tablet is still broken though.

I have a hard time drawing children so I sketched a child's skull in order to get the base down.

As my tablet is still sad: here's a comic page done in colored pencil and pen. It's actually the first page of a comic that I have attempted to create about four time by now. (For those who know about it -- it's the "angel" story).

My tablet is having issues so I'm working in the physical world now. I have to say that I like not staring into a screen when I work. I'm trying to find a way to illustrate comics that is not so focused on inking. I think that my style of working doesn't translate well to ink (or at least very consistently -- I end to make a lot of mistakes and it rarely turns out as well as my under drawing). So here's a drawing using a colored pencil with some inking. I like how portable it is -- unlike watercolors.
